Loti’s free tier vs. a human filing your takedowns: which one you actually need

Loti is one of the better-known names in likeness protection, and its free tier is a real offer rather than a trial. If you are comparing it with a service where a person files your takedowns, the useful question is which problem you have: finding fakes, or getting a specific fake down and keeping it down. This guide lays out what Loti publishes about its plans, what a human does differently, and when you need each.

What Loti offers, in Loti’s own terms

Everything in this section is Loti's published positioning as of 2026. We have not run its detection against a test set and this page does not rate its accuracy. According to its own plan pages:

• A free tier with 24/7 automated monitoring and up to 5 takedowns a month. Unused takedowns roll over to the following month.
• A premium tier at $25 a month with expanded limits and features.
• Custom plans for large creators, public figures and organisations.
• A focus on deepfakes, impersonation and unauthorised use of a person's likeness, across social platforms and the wider web.
• Automated detection, with takedown requests generated and filed through Loti's system when a match is confirmed.

That is a serious amount of coverage at zero cost. It is worth saying plainly before getting into where a human differs.

Where Loti’s free tier is a genuinely good deal

• Detection you do not have to run. Always-on monitoring is the part most creators skip until a follower flags a fake. Getting it for free removes the excuse. If you would rather check by hand first, our guide on how to find out if someone is impersonating you covers the free manual methods.
• Deepfakes and likeness, not only usernames. A lot of impersonation tooling is really handle-matching. Loti's stated focus on face and likeness covers the case where a fake uses your pictures under a completely different name, which is where handle-matching goes blind.
• Five takedowns a month at no charge. For a creator with an occasional clone, that is enough volume to never pay anyone.
• No commitment. There is no reason not to have it running in the background.

If your situation is "nothing has happened yet, but it might", Loti free is a very reasonable answer, and this page is not going to argue you out of it.

What a human does differently

An automated takedown is a report generated from a match and submitted through a platform's forms. A human-filed takedown starts from the same forms, because those are the only forms that exist, for anyone. The difference is what happens before, around and after the submit button:

• Evidence is assembled and reviewed by a person before filing. Screenshots of the fake with dates, the exact URLs, the specific posts that copy yours, the scam messages if there are any, and a check that the account is impersonation rather than a fan page or an unrelated person with a similar name. A report with that behind it reads differently to a reviewer than a report with a URL in it.
• The copyright route when the impersonation report stalls. Platforms judge impersonation by name. When the fake uses your photos under a different name, the impersonation report tends to fail and the tool that works is a copyright complaint on each stolen image, which asks who owns the photo and ignores the name. Choosing that route, and proving ownership, is a judgement call a person makes case by case. • Re-filing and escalation when a fake comes back. Impersonators rename themselves mid-review, rebuild under a new handle, or survive a first decision that went the wrong way. A person notices the pattern, re-files with the history attached, and escalates through the platform's review options.
• A named contact. Someone whose job it is to tell you what was filed, what came back, and what happens next.
• Cross-platform, including TikTok and YouTube. Thuros files on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube, and each platform's forms behave differently. Check the platform list of any service, including Loti's, against where your audience actually is.
